Additionally, please bring a mask as we will be required to wear them in the warehouse.

Don't forget to wear your CivicSpark shirt!

Registration:

Prior to our service Day, everyone participating must register and sign a waiver on Westside Baby's website.

The link to sign up can be found here: http://vhub.at/wacivicspark

You will see two shifts on the calendar for March 16th, click one of them, and then click sign up. It will then take you to a sign-in page where you can make a quick account and agree to the Covid waiver. You can then register for the other shift.

Make sure to register for both the 10am-12pm and the 1pm-3pm shifts. You must register for each separately.

Agenda

WeeCycle is located in Havana Square behind a strip mall. Once you pull into Havana Square, you will proceed past the strip mall and will see a bunch of warehouse spaces. Go to Suite 210, where you should see a WeeCycle sign out front. Feel free to park in any open space.

Time: Please arrive at 11:55 am as the sign in process will begin promptly at 12 noon. We will then have a short informational tour and start our tasks for the afternoon. Everything will be wrapped up by 4:00 p.m.

What we will be doing: processing gently used baby gear brought in by local community members, sorting baby clothes or shoes to create outfit set bags for low income families. We may split the group with an opportunity to switch activities halfway through.

What to wear: Please wear closed toed shoes. The warehouse is not heated so dressing in comfortable clothing and layers is a good idea! Remember to wear your CivicSpark gear.

Personal item storage: There will be a secure office area available for jackets, snacks, and bags. This is a longer shift than last time, so bring some snacks if you might need them.

Getting There

The exact location of the service site is 1250 Las Juntas Way, Walnut Creek, CA 94596. As it is quite literally next door to a BART station (4-minute walk) we highly encourage you to take public transportation if feasible. If you choose to drive, there is street parking in the area around the site and you can also park at the BART parking lot (although you will likely have to pay a small fee for the day - which is reimbursable by CivicWell, but you will need a receipt).

If you would like to coordinate a carpool to the site, we recommend reaching out to Fellows who are serving in your area. Here is a list of where the Fellows we anticipate will be in attendance are living in the Bay Area:

  • East Bay: Natasha Gallatin, Billy Stone, Anna Zamboanga, Trey Hannula

  • Peninsula/San Francisco: Claire Thomas, Sam Treanor, Angus Parton, Badhia Yunes Katz, Luca Giusti, Nate Huntington

  • San Jose/Hayward: Sabrina Paras, Saira Singh, Valerie Nguyen, Landon Keller (Central CA Fellow), Miko Yoshikawa-Baker, Yasamin Obaidy
